Is an underground strip club taking off in South Vero?

STORY BY RAY MCNULTY (Week of October 27, 2022)

Is an underground strip club operating just a few miles from 32963 in Indian River County?

If you’ve driven around the Vero Beach area recently, you might’ve noticed the handwritten roadside signs advertising “SHOW GIRLS LIVE” and “MAGIC MIKE LIVE” and providing a local cellphone number.

And if you called that number and left a message – or sent a text message – you probably received a response via text informing you that the next “Show Girls” event is scheduled for 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Nov. 5 at an address immediately west of the Timber Ridge community on Oslo Road.

The message also refers you to a Facebook page for “The Shack,” where you’ll find photographs of a smiling young woman in a bikini-type costume and a house with a handwritten “THE SHACK” sign on a boarded-up window.

The page includes an invitation to the “ultimate house party,” where you can “see beautiful, exotic and talented women perform live” in a series of five one-hour shows. Those who attend are welcome to enjoy “music, drinks, snacks, games, prizes” while being entertained by “sexy fantasy performers.”

Oh, and for those wondering: Admission to your first show is free, but you must RSVP with a name.

You want more information? You’ll need to call “Jason,” using the same phone number posted on those roadside signs.  “Jason” did not respond to a voice message left by Vero Beach 32963 seeking comment for this story.

This newspaper did conduct a Google search of the phone number, however, and the first item listed was “Primo-Greetings,” a website that claims to have been “created for guys who love the touch of a woman, and who would like to get away for the weekend” with “beautiful women trained in the art of pleasure.”

The website states: “These ladies specialize in dance, one-on-one baths, and the most intimate/relaxing massages,” and the getaways to Miami – which may include a “fantasy video” session – are prizes that can be won in a raffle.

The Primo-Greetings website, which includes photographs of the “models,” also advertises The Shack’s shows, where, it appears, raffle tickets may be purchased.

“If you are in Vero Beach FL,” the website states, “come check us out.”

In addition, Primo-Greetings has a Facebook page, where it uses photographs of provocatively attired women to advertise activity some might find suspicious: “Beautiful sexy women servicing single men for a fantasy date.”

Its most recent post was on Sept. 2, when it advertised a Sept. 17 “Show Girls” event at its 8th Way Southwest location and listed the number found on the local signs.

Those roadside signs, in fact, have spawned more than 200 comments on two postings on Facebook’s wildly popular Vero Beach Neighborhood page, where most of the remarks have been light-hearted and humorous.

Some of those who commented, however, expressed concern about illicit – and possible criminal – behavior and suggested the Sheriff’s Office investigate the activity connected to the signs.

Lt. Joe Abollo, the Sheriff’s Office’s public information officer, did not respond to voice and text messages.

County Administrator Jason Brown said he was unaware of the signs, but if any of them is posted in a right-of-way, code enforcement crews will remove them.

He said there are no licensed and approved adult entertainment establishments in the county, and he will have his staff investigate the property for zoning code violations.

“If it’s something more than that,” Brown said, “then it’s in the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Office.”

According to the comments on the Vero Beach Neighborhood page, the signs have been seen on U.S. 1, Oslo Road, Old Dixie Highway, 27th Avenue, 58th Avenue, and 8th Street.
